🌶️ Flex's Weekly Reccs: Birth Order, BDB, Sauce, Sandal School 🧛🏿♀️
There's so much good and bad.
Hello Earthlings. As an act of gratitude, I’m trying to record and remember all the winning aspects of being alive. It’s going well.
🧘🏾♀️ Birth Order Psychology
One of my favourite pastimes is pendulum swinging from Rampant Individuality Complex to raging thoughts of being a statistic (just like everyone else, in the only way that matters. It is my life’s work to figure out what the middle ground is, but until that day, I will continue to soak up information that makes me feel seen, celebrated then stifled.
Recently I’ve been reminded of birth order psychology and it’s got me giggling. A theory popularised by psychologist Alfred Adler in the 20th century hypothesising that the order in which siblings are born into a family can have a SIGNIFICANT (!!!!) impact on their personalities, behaviors, and development.
Is it a good time to reveal I’m the youngest sibling? Apparently the Family Baby is often seen charming, outgoing, and creative. They can also have a tendency to be rebellious or attention-seeking, as they strive to distinguish themselves from their older siblings. Real.
Naturally after some researching, my algorithms are flooding me with more information. RUMINATING ENSUES. Is there a pattern in the birth order of the kind of friends I have, the people I love and the gremlins I’m always drawn to?
Yes. The answer is yes.
I’m currently in the market for some oldest siblings to coddle me.
🧛🏿♀️ Black Dagger Brotherhood Series
If you assumed that my vampire obsession started with Twilight, you’d be wrong. It was actually the Black Dagger Brotherhood series I started reading around the same time. My first introduction to Adult Fantasy Smut and I swear it hardwired my brain something severe. It absolutely inspired my fascination with nocturnalism, and my general sexy quirky heroine protagonist vibe.
The series started in 2005, references Black Berry phones and can be cringe sometimes. However, it’s such an easy read, has a cinematic universe that links series, there’s hot vampires, perfect sex scenes and has made me cry upwards of five times!!!
I’ve read the first 3 books in the series in five days, so you know life is good.
🌶️ Nando’s Perinaise
It’s not everyday ketchup, babes! Sometimes we can switch it up. Perfect balanced flavours. Ten points.
🧚🏿 DIY Workshops!!
I just finished Week 1/4 of Sandal School (video incoming)! If you’ve noticed an uptick of me going to creative workshops, there is a conscious and specific reason. The quote “what got me here, won’t get me there” is responsible.
I’ve been reflecting on how some of my best and worst qualities (impulsiveness, unstructured genius, unbridled creative flow) have been so instrumental in cultivating the Flex of Now. However, in order to get to the next level of me, I must be willing to undergo a system update. Review my code and see if there’s anything I can revise.
I’ve been notoriously resistant to being taught, having to follow rules or adhere to strict instructions (childhood trauma!!), but I don’t really resonate with that anymore. It’s been fun being a student.
