šÆ Flex's Weekly Reccs: Kindle Unlimited, Calming Classical, PEMF + Books š¦§
Fingers! Firmly! On! The! Pulse!
I commend myself on having my finger on consumptionās pulse. It comes as easy as breathing to me. So much so that I forget thereās an art to knowing whatās hot and whatās not. That art is remembering that for every life-changing product or experience, an extra layer of joy can be unlocked when shared.
š§š¾āāļø PEMF MAT
Am I actually suggesting you go out and buy a yoga mat that emits energy frequencies?
Not explicitly, but Iāve been using one almost daily for 3 months via this wellness club I go to and it has truly activated the dormant goopcore(tex) of my brain. Iām not completely up to scratch with what it intends to do and Iām also not sure if this exists in the science or pseudoscience category.
However, putting this on 20 hertz and pairing it with a Morning Pages journaling session feels like crack. Or at least what I imagine caffeine high to feel like. Coffee beans for the intangible ā the soul, the vibe, the mood.
š Kindle Unlimited
I feel like Nara Smith encouraging you to basically use a virtually library, but here me out. Given the state of the world (censorship, misinformation, disinformation and lack of access) we should probably get into the habit of collecting physical copies of the entertainment we love.
However, if you want to get into reading but have been put off starting because you donāt want to amass a tonne of books you donāt actually like, Kindle Unlimited is a vibe.
Itās basically a modern library. A subscription service that lets you borrow and return digital books for a monthly fee. There are so many independent authors and 65 million (am I exaggerating??) genres to explore. Dip in, dip out.
The Kindle Unlimited app is a much better experience on an actual Kindle, but you can use your phone. You can also buy books via the Kindle, but you canāt if you use the Kindle App on your phone.
š» Calming Classical Playlist
This playlist is for baddies who enjoy having all senses stimulated at all times, but are distracted by voices in music and podcasts. This is chill, non-offensive and calming. Feels like aristocratic role play without the colonial violence.
š§šæ Currently Reading
Though Iām off traditional book recommendations, Iām happy to let you in on what Iām reading. Use it as inspiration or donāt. Most importantly, donāt forget that you have free will and you never have to finish books you donāt want to.
Pedagogy Of The Oppressed by Paulo Freire
An argument for why traditional education is categorically oppression. Stunting the intellectual growth, creative expansion and critical thinking of students. Telling them what to think instead of showing them how to think.
Crescent City by Sarah J Maas
One of the most polarizing books Iāve ever read according to the internet, booktok and my DMs. Itās my 3rd time attempting to read it and itās actually going well. Itās VERY DENSE but Iām finding the detail is what makes it enjoyable.OK PLOT TWIST, I FINISHED IT AND IM ON THE SECOND BOOK AND ITS SO GOOD AAAAH!!!!!!
Iām not well-versed in the Maas criticism and candidly havenāt done any more research than the comment sections on TikTok. However, people have said in various ways that she has plagiarised concepts, refuses to write inclusive stories and more recently, speculation that she is a Zionist due to a family members connection with the IOF.
Fall of Ruin & Wrath by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Gods that feed on pleasure, rated by some random person on TikTok and an easy read. I personally thought it was Fineā¢. The first 40% was invigorating!!! I giggled aloud! I blushed! I gasped! The rest felt like a tired slow burn, with the MCs having the same conversation with different backdrops. I prefer From Blood and Ash. I recently found out itās part of a series, so Iām going to reread it so I can finish it off!
The Lume
In case you missed it I recently went to the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition at The Lume and it was exceptional!!!!! MY KING LEO. THE ORIGINAL INFLUENCER. POLYMATH. IT BOY!!!! It also resulted in a wee little treat for all No Deep Dives subscribers.
